The Patek Philippe DiamondRibbon watch came out in 2012. Its name comes from the spiral shape of the edge of the case, like a ribbon floating above the gymnast’s head. At Baselworld 2019, Patek Philippe launched Ref.4978 / 400G-001DiamondRibbon high jewelry white gold watch, replacing the rose gold style released in 2016.

The new watch is made of platinum and has a slightly larger diameter, from 33.3 mm to 36.5 mm. Therefore, the spiral pattern formed by the diamond is more noticeable. The case has a thickness of 8.23 millimeters, with a back-through design and water resistance of 30 meters. The 18K gold dial (and case) is paved with spiral-shaped diamonds in a gradual arrangement, totaling 679, weighing approximately 3.99 carats, and dazzling. Decorated with 12 blue white gold cubes and blue white gold leaf-shaped hands, the pavé diamonds are still legible.
It is equipped with Caliber240 self-winding movement, which is assembled from 161 parts. It is equipped with 22K gold eccentric mini-automatic disc, vibrating frequency is 21,600 times / hour (3 Hz), and it can provide at least 48 hours power reserve. The sapphire crystal case back provides a glimpse of the movement’s precision movements and delicate finishes, such as Geneva ripples and fish scales.
